Holiday Home

Since I went to college, I haven't really gotten into the Christmas decorating spirit. Don't get me wrong, December 26th I'm at every Target within a 20 mile radius snagging all the holiday home deals for that one time I finally decide to have people over for the holidays. I already have boxes upon boxes of decor that I've never actually gotten out and decorated with, but I plan to change that this year. Now that we have our own house, I'm really looking forward to infusing a little bit of holiday spirit in every nook of it.
I've rounded up nine of my favorite items to get your home ready for the holidays that would also make great hostess gifts if you're headed to any friendsgivings or holiday get togethers!
Flannel Sheets // Nothing makes it more difficult to get out of bed than being curled up in a warm and cozy set of flannel sheets.

SpaRoom Diffuser // I swear by these diffusers. I have one in my living room and one in my classroom. With all of the essential oils available, you could get some great holiday scents filling your space.

Pom Pom Throw // A fun little throw to toss over your sofa or snuggle up under.

Pom Pom Wreath // I spotted one of these pom pom wreaths at Marshall's with my mom and instantly fell in love. If this one isn't quite in your price point but you have some time to spare, you could always DIY one (bonus: you can choose any color scheme)!

Winter Berry Hand Soap/Lotion Set // This Williams-Sonoma scent is one of my all time holiday favorites! It's currently on sale, great time to stock up for yourself and to give.

Tartan Oven Mitt / Pot Holder // You can never have too many pot holders and this set adds a fun touch of holiday cheer to the kitchen.

Golden Monogram Mug // Like clockwork post Halloween the Anthropologie limited edition golden monogram mugs flood the Instagram world. Snag yours now before it's too late!

Recipe Box // Fill it with family recipes or personal favorites for new homeowners. Cute enough to leave out on the counter.

Heart Pan // I'm a big fan of the entire All in Good Taste baking collection. The fun, familiar phrases make getting to the bottom of the pan a mini surprise.

What are your favorite ways to make it feel like the holidays at home?

We bought a house!

Hello! I'm back after a few weeks of silence to tell you all-WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!! After a couple months of searching and a couple more months of preparation and jumping through the housing hoops, Kyle and I were able to purchase a charming converted barn just a couple streets over from the previous apartment. OH and the adorable painted version was given to us by the seller at settlement, just like it was given to him when he bought the home. It was awesome to hear a little bit about the history of the home and get the scoop on the neighborhood.
Purchasing a nearly hundred year old home, comes with plenty of work to be done like adding ceiling lights and additional outlets (there is currently only one in each bedroom 😲). I'm extremely thankful my dad has experience with electrical work and is willing to help us make the modifications. I can't wait to start renovating the space and making it show our personalities. I'm especially excited to decorate for the holidays, I swear I have never been more in the Christmas spirit!
I'll be documenting our DIY successes (and maybe some failures) and plenty of photos along the way. I hope you'll follow along on our exciting journey of becoming homeowners!

Work Wears vol. 8

Two weeks ago (outfits pictured below) was chock full of after school activities on top of long, exhausting days but it was so rewarding. As a co-advisor for mini-THON, I got to act as adult supervision for about twenty students as they created posters to raise awareness of the dance in February. Photo club met and prepped for Safe Halloween Night. We had a little backdrop, hay bales, and pumpkins set up for the local kids to get their picture taken and I tirelessly did post-production into the early morning Friday and Saturday night. It was great to see my photo club volunteers interact with the kids and put their photo knowledge to work.
