#MustHaveBox

Hello all! Sorry for yet another unplanned hiatus, but it's been a crazy ten days since my last post. My six year old MacBook that I use for everything crossed over to the other side. I've still been prepping for all of the missed posts due to the lack of a laptop, but it'll be a couple of days until I'm able to share it all. So stay tuned!

Now to the real content of this post...
POPSUGAR sent me this month's Must Have Box to try and I've been so eager to share since the moment I opened it!
September's box includes some true fall necessities:
Dark Chocolate Coconut Bites // Smith & Cult Lip lacquer in The Warning // MANI-ER Tool Kit //
Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair Deep Conditioning Mask // Flint Lint Roller
Jack & Lucy Wide Brim Hat
The Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer is perfect if you're into a super sticky, long-lasting lip tint in the perfect hint of red to jump into fall.
I'm also a big fan of floppy felt hats and I tend to buy all black ones with slightly different stitching or embellishments. So the Jack & Lucy Wide Brim Hat will feel right at home on the hat wall among the sea of black felt.

As for the other items in the box, the Gluten Free Bites are a little dry for my taste, but pair wonderfully with a cold glass of chocolate milk. The MANI-ER Tool Kit is a great set to have in your bag in a pinch, unless you're headed to an airport that is. I didn't know I needed the Flint Lint Roller until I had one. I tend to do things the art teacher way and wrap masking tape sticky-side out around my hand as a make-shift lint roller. The Flint is much cuter and it's probably more socially acceptable to carry it around over masking tape. I haven't tried the Briogeo Deep Conditioner yet but it was on my list of products to try so I'm excited to see how effective it is. Any product that smells delicious is worth a shot in my book.

POPSUGAR is also offering all of you $5 off your first Must Have Box with the code SHOP5

Work Wears vol. 3

It was a crazy productive week full of decorating my room, meetings, photo club planning, and (obviously) instruction. I haven't been able to get over the fact that I have such a great bunch of students who are so polite, eager to help each other, and totally understand my sense of humor and obsessive compulsive tendencies. One of my classes told me that if I were one flavor it would definitely be salty, always salty. It's clear after only three weeks they already know me perfectly and make the classes that much better!
This week I unintentionally went with some neutral, bohemian fall vibes for what I wore to work. I can't wait for the weather to cool off so I can start wearing some colorful/ patterned tights, taller boots, and scarves!
Monday: Denim Vest: Urban Outfitters // Dress: Francessa's // Necklace: BaubleBar // Flats: Target // Bracelet: Target
Tuesday: Cardigan: Target // Dress: J.Crew // Sandals: Jack Rogers

Thursday: Dress: Target // Belt: Free People // Booties: Seychelles (similar)

Novelty Bags

As many of you are aware, I love all kitschy, novelty things-shoes, jewelry, purses, you name it.
I've rounded up a bunch of novelty totes under $100 at the bottom of the post so you can add a little kitschy-goodness to your own wardrobe.
Sunnies // Cardigan // Tank Top // Jeans // Shoes: Urban Outfitters (loving this heeled version)

Betsey Johnson makes some of my absolute favorite novelty bags and if I had an unlimited budget, I would buy 90% of them. In case you don't pick up from the widget below, I'm a massive fan of food themed, well everything, but especially bags.

Any favorites? I'm torn between the camera, taco, and avocado!

This N That

This weekend we went home to hang out with my sister and Arnaud (french exchange student) while my parents celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary in Vermont. I always forget how exhausting it is being around three pups-especially with one under 6 months. We celebrated my mimi's birthday with some pizza and super sweet cupcakes and I took another mini break from blogging/ social media to take plenty of naps to recoop from the high energy puppy playing.

Beyonce's 70's themed birthday party was too perfect. If you haven't seen any of the photos I highly recommend checking them out!

Work Wears vol. 2

For the second week of school, I went with some extra colorful looks and tried to utilize my skirts and dresses to beat the heat. It may seem a little crazy that I'm saying I'm trying to beat the heat but I wore long sleeves-my classroom is comfortably cold and my car's a/c is currently broken. I need the sleeves for indoors and I can either push them up or take off my cardigan and be comfortable inside and out.
Tuesday: Earrings: J.Crew // Cardigan: J.Crew // Tee: J.Crew // Skirt: J.Crew // Necklace: J.Crew // Flats: Sam& Libby
Wednesday: Cardigan: J.Crew // Dress: Banana Republic // Shoes: J.Crew (similar)
Thursday: Earrings: J.Crew // Button Down: J.Crew // Skirt: Target // Shoes: Manolo Blahnik // Necklace: Target
Friday: Dress: Free People // Booties: Minnetonka // Choker: ASOS

Have a great week! xo

Top Ten Totes

I've converted back to using my Longchamp Le Pliage as my everyday tote for work again and while it's one of my favorite totes, it's starting to show some wear and I think it's time for an update. I carry my laptop, agenda, padfolio, portfolio, mouse, and peekaboo clutch to and from work every day so I need a heavy duty bag that can hold all of my things while still looking cute.
I've searched far and wide for some totes in varying shapes, sizes, and colors under $200. Some are great if you're a student (like the Ban.do peekaboo tote) and others are sophisticated for corporate jobs (like the Rebecca Minkoff tote).
No matter what your budget, there's a FUNctional tote to add a little flair to your everyday style.

Hiking in Asker

Today I'm sharing the final set of photos from my Norwegian vacation. Every time I look at the photos (which is almost daily) I want to go back even more! My last day in Norway, Tina and I went for a hike on a mountain trail near her parents' home and the view was truly breathtaking. The pictures don't do it justice, but I did my best to capture the moments on our way up to the top.
I seriously miss the fresh, Norwegian blueberries, strawberries, and cherries. I'm practically salivating just thinking about them.
Before our hike, Tina told me there were some areas that were uphill, some downhill, and some flat areas. I snapped the picture above because this totally out of shape chica saw the entire thing as being one steep, uphill journey. Right around this area two girls about our age were running up the trail with their dog carrying on a conversion with ease, meanwhile I'm barely moving and I'm dripping sweat and gasping for air.

This N That

My oh my, it's been a while since I've written one of these posts! Even though my classroom isn't totally set up yet, I feel like I have a better grip on the curriculum with this being my third time teaching Photo I and II which means I should have more time for blogging again.
Kyle and I met up with his parents at Arnold's Family Fun Center on Sunday for bowling. While I still can't break 100, I was able to pull off a strike and a few spares, I usually ignore the scores and am just happy if I knock down more than one pin.

These high school seniors created personalized works of art in their parking spaces and they are truly inspiring. It got me thinking about what I would've painted in my space if we had been permitted.

Two // Harry Potter Festival
This October in Philadelphia there will be a Harry Potter Festival and you can bet your patronus I plan on attending! I might not be in full Harry Potter garb (I'm not sure my robe fits anymore) but oh, what a dream to be surrounded by other muggles in love with the wizarding world!

Three // Gravity-Defying Milkshakes
Holy gluttonous, sweet-tooth heaven! I can't personally see myself eating a whole (or even half) of one of these milkshakes but it could definitely be a fun treat to split!

Four // Shelter Doggy Sleepovers
I LOVE the idea of a dog slumber party with adoptable pups! Such a fun way to find your forever friend!

Work Wears vol. 1

Last Monday was our first day of school and I was way too excited to start planning outfits again. I decided to start using the closet door as a backdrop because it has the best lighting in the apartment and you'll notice I have a guest star in half of the pictures. Stella gets crazy excited when I come home from work and either wants to be held and give me a million kisses or refuses to leave my side. As for my hair- I swear I brush it and it looks at least 50% better when I leave in the morning but all the puppy love results in messy hair and I really don't mind.
Monday: Necklace: Buried Diamond // Shirt: Who What Wear x Target // Dress: Free People // Shoes: Jack Rogers
Tuesday: Jean Jacket: American Eagle // Shirt: Union Polo // Pants: Old Navy // Shoes: Manolo Blahnik
Wednesday: Shirt: Target (similar) // Pants: Old Navy // Shoes: Jack Rogers
Thursday: Dress: Who What Wear x Target (sleeveless version) // Belt: Kate Spade Saturday (RIP) //
Heels: Target

#PSRockTheVote

I'm so excited to have partnered with POPSUGAR and Rock The Vote to help bring awareness to the upcoming election! As soon as I found out about the partnership, I told Kyle we had to find the patriotic wall we passed several weeks before and sent us on a wild goose chase hunting for it twice. I tried to drop a pin the first time I saw it, but truth be told, I don't understand how pins work and I'm not sure how to find them later so I ended up extremely disappointed when I couldn't remember which of the three forks in the road we came from. Thanks to some clever GPSing (that's a verb, right?) we were able to track down the wall of all patriotic walls and took approximately 3 minutes to get the shots we needed. It took more time for me to get the "perfect" shot of the building for my snap story-sorry Kyle.
I had way too much fun styling this fun, retro-style tee with a flowery-gingham MinkPink dress, my Superga tennies, a bold pair of Quay sunnies, and a red lip. I wanted to be as patriotic and playful as possible as I portrayed the serious message of the importance of participating in this year's election. It can be so easy to think our votes don't count or to simply decide not to take all of five minutes to go to a voting center or fill out an absentee ballot. So this is me, on my soapbox, telling you to make sure your voice is heard this election and-if you haven't already-register to vote. As my parents always say (and thanks to them, I constantly do too), "if you don't vote you can't complain".

Labor Day Sales

Holiday sales are definitely my favorite time to shop because, duh, why would I pay full price for something when I can get an awesome deal? I've rounded up some of the sales I'd be most likely to (or already have) shop and a few of my favorite pieces from each sale to get all of you interested in snagging some pieces without breaking the bank, too!

Anthropologie: Extra 40% off sale styles
(scroll through for some fabulous accessories and clothing)

BaubleBar: save up to 75% off select styles (an additional 20% off sale items when added to cart)
I already ordered Stella a new collar that I've been eyeing up (pun intended) since it's release and a matching necklace for myself. I seriously want to buy her collars and accessories in every color so we can always match. #CrazyPetMom I can see myself picking up a few more of the pieces below before the sale ends on Monday though, I've really been trying to accessorize my outfits more and add extra color to everything I wear.

Madewell: Extra 30% off sale styles with code DOUBLEUP
