Red, White and Blue

Fourth of July will be here before we know it (just a little under a week away!), so I thought
I would roundup some of my favorite red, white and blue outfits that have appeared on the blog before. Kyle and I haven't made any plans besides trying to find fireworks, so I’m thinking that I’ll probably be wearing denim or chambray mixed with my favorite striped pieces. Luckily most of us have lots of items already in our wardrobes that we can pull out and mix to create the perfect festive outfit, that way we’re not rushing last minute to buy something we’ll never wear again. I think simple is best and a red lip goes a long way. Keep scrolling for comfy and chic options whether you're attending a barbecue or sitting under a firework display.
Here are some fun and classic red, white and blue options I'm loving:

PA Day Trip

A few weeks ago, Kyle and I decided to take a little day trip to a part of PA we hadn't been yet. He foolishly left me, the least decisive person possible, in charge of choosing where we would go. I spent several days googling "hidden gems in PA", "best day trips in central PA", etc. etc. While I found some pretty interesting looking places, I naturally settled on an adorable shopping center called Peddler's Village. We stopped in Doylestown on the way home to check out the record store and holy cow it was the cutest little town. I instantly fell in love with this huge teal wall and the architecture, but naturally left my camera in the car.
It was a hot and humid day and I knew I wanted to wear a breezy dress to try and beat the heat while still being protected from the sun. I picked up this Free People tunic a couple months ago on clearance and loved the large cutout, however, I failed to try it on before buying it and it's a little less than modest, so I decided to turn it around backwards. I threw on a vintage fabric bead necklace my grandma picked up for me and my favorite Sam & Libby gladiators to complete my neutral look. But don't let these carefully selected photos fool you, I was sweating and my hair felt like a heated blanket.

Let's Flamingle

The very first thing I bought when I found out I would be moving into my own apartment were two pink flamingos. I've always dreamed of having flamingos in my front yard despite their kitsch associations. I mean, if you haven't noticed I do love all kitschy, novelty things. Even though I was lucky to have a first floor apartment that has a small yard, I'm afraid to put my flamingos out in it. So, instead the flamingos live in the living room where I have the pleasure of seeing them every day. Seeing as today is national flamingo day, I thought it would be appropriate to share a handful of flamingo themed items for your home and for you to wear.

Today is what I'm considering my first day of summer because it finally set in that I don't have school for basically the next three months. Every summer I get excited for time off to go on adventures and make memories. But every summer I fall into a mind trap that makes me just want to sit around and do a whole lot of nothing. Working a summer job usually helped with keeping me busy and not be a total couch potato, but this summer I chose not to work. That may leave me very vulnerable to becoming a permanent part of my couch, but I think I can fight through it. I've planned a few trips this summer that have been motivating me to update my wardrobe a bit, like buying a Patagonia fleece for a trip I haven't even booked yet...
Some of my summer plans will likely require a swimsuit. It's weird but over the last couple of summers, I've been drawn more to one pieces over bikinis. I think the fact that one pieces now come with varying cuts and detailing paired with the general modesty makes me more interested in them. I also think that the time I wasn't allowed to go down a water slide, that my family deemed "the most fun ever", because my bikini exposed my belly ring makes me want to jump on the one piece train... don't want to miss out on the "most fun ever" water slide again. Anyway, here's a few one pieces I've been considering for my summer wardrobe.

Wedding Wears

Memorial Day Weekend my brother got married and it was stinkin hot out. I laughed as I got ready because the dress I bought had built in deodorant/ sweat pads and I thought to myself "how appropriate for the sweaty pig". I was constantly wiping my drenched face with a clump of papertowels that I deemed my "sweat rag" that I was able to conveniently stuff into my pocket when I no longer needed it until I could find a trash can. I'm telling you, if it were a slightly thinner material, this dress would be the ideal hot, humid wedding attire. But enough about how much and easily I sweat, it was a beautiful afternoon/evening and I need to get back to editing the 800+ photos I snapped from setup to clean up. Enjoy these photos of my family, Kyle and I and I'll try to update Charpography with more pictures... eventually.
How fun are my mom's Lenora Dame necklace and earrings?
These are seriously the best pictures of Bailey and I on my camera... though they couldn't describe us better.

Work Wears vol. 8

I can't believe there are only four days (two of which are half days) left in my first year of teaching. I know it's so cliché to say, but time really did fly. You'll also notice I no longer have a blank wall to photograph my outfits against. I have had my eye on this shelf for a few months now and when I saw it went on sale online, I couldn't resist buying it any longer. I love Target's new Pillowfort collection and how it seamlessly fits in the decor of my apartment. Before I ramble any further, here's what I wore to work last week:
Monday: Scarf: WhoWhat Wear x Target // Cardigan (worn backwards) // Pants: J.Crew Factory // Shoes: Urban Outfitters (similar)
Tuesday:  Dress // Heels // Back-up Shoes: Jack Rogers (Color sold out similar)
Wednesday: Cardigan // Dress // Flats
I forgot to take a picture this day but Bailey snapped a few on our sister night.
Thursday: Vest // Dress: Francessca's // Flats
Friday: Dress: Cotton On (similar) // Shirt: Band of Gypsies // Sandals: Jack Rogers (Color sold out similar)

Have a great weekend! xo
