Skincare Routine

I have had a lot of skin care routines over the years but this my latest and I think it's been working pretty well. I by no means have perfect skin but this routine helps clear up/ prevent embarrassing blemishes. Sometimes I get a little lazy and skip part of the routine and I feel like I break out shortly after.
// 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 //

One //  I'm a huge fan of the Kiss My Face brand- I got my first Kiss My Face lip balm in middle school and was in love with the buttery texture and how moisturizing it was. Anyway, I got this soap the beginning of December because my mom mentioned the benefits of olive oil. I'm so glad I tried it because it makes my skin so soft and I love it's fresh scent.
Two  //  I alternate this with the Kiss My Face and especially focus on "trouble" areas with this.
Three //  I first tried this fantastic Mario Badescu cleanser when I bought my Clarisonic (almost three years ago). It has such a great fresh scent and it makes my face feel buttery smooth. It used to freak me out a little bit that it doesn't foam but now that's why it's my favorite cleanser.
Four // Love this when my skin feels dry and tight, it immediately moisturizes and smells so good which is always equally important!
Five //  I use my Vitamin E stick in the morning after washing my face for spot treatments
Six //  This is my absolute favorite pimple relief treatment I've ever tried. It dries blemishes out overnight and who doesn't love (almost) instant results? Just a warning- I didn't know it dries white and left my dorm freshman year to go to the dining hall with white spots on my face. A stranger came up to me and said "uh, I'm not sure if you know, but you have white stuff all over your face". Moral of the story, look in the mirror before going out in public and use this paste at night (when you're not going in public).
Seven //  What skincare routine is complete without a great cleansing brush? I won't lie, sometimes I slack on using it and opt for a cleansing pad instead. But as soon as I use my Clarisonic again, my skin looks and feels so much better I wish I never stopped.

Do you have a skincare routine that works for you? Have you tried any of these products?

Thanks for Stoping by! xo

Life in Square Photos 8/52

These short weeks have been flying by, this is the first Monday I have had school all semester. Student teaching has been so great and I've been working on some exciting things I can't wait to share.
Here's a few photos from this week:
My mom filled Kyle and my Bug 'Em's with our favorite candy for Valentine's day.
Saturday night cuddles.
Collecting all things spring.
Brunching with a view
The most ridiculous amount of food for $10.
My Look:
Jacket: Marshalls (Similar) // Top: Free People // Jeans: Guess // Booties: Minnetonka
Wegman's Ultimate White Cake is my family's goto birthday cake.
My sweet roommates made delicious birthday brownies and a giant card.
So many sweets today, it was certainly my ideal way to spend my birthday.

Have a Great Week! xo

His and Hers: Winter Style

Pim, one of my roommates, took a few pictures of Kyle and I on Valentine's Day specifically so I could do a His and Hers: Winter Style post. Valentine's Day was quit frigid and we both styled our version of bundling up. It always makes me laugh how my idea of bundling to leave the house is piling on as many layers as I can fit under my coat (in some cases two coats) and I'll still be cold, and he can throw on a t-shirt and light sweatshirt and be fine.
^^Notice anything out of place in this picture? ^^
After we had taken a few photos (and gone to the movies) my roommate says "did you know you have a tag under your arm?"no, awkward. Sadly, as you may recall, this is not the first time I've left a tag on my coat after wearing it in public. I just get so excited to wear new clothes.
My Look: Leopard Coat: Forever 21 // Sweater: Kohl's // Paneled Jeggings: American Eagle // Beanie: Abercrombie // Shoes: Converse
His Look: Sweatshirt: Ralph Lauren // Shirt: Target // Jeans: Levis // Shoes: Ralph Lauren

Life in Square Photos 7/52

Was it just me or did this week seem to fly by? How is it even possible that we're more than halfway through February already? Here's a few shots from the past week:
We haven't had a full week of school yet, not that I'm complaining, but I don't know how much longer I can take the single digit temps and slippery surfaces.
The sunrises and sunsets have certainly been making my daily, traffic-filled commute a lot more beautiful.
It's still so weird to me to be called "Miss. Harper".
But it's so rewarding to be in a classroom everyday taking on the tasks of a teacher. Working on displaying students' work is probably one of my favorite things of all.
Kyle and I spent Valentine's evening our usual way, watching a new TV series (I'm obsessed with Shameless right now) and ordering in General Tso's and white rice.

Have a Great Week! xo

Pupdate 004

It's been a little while since my last pupdate so I'm not even sure where to begin!
We got Lily spayed a few days before I came back to school. We thought getting her spayed would calm her down a bit. ha. The same day as her surgery, my mom and I came home from work and Lily was even more whacked out than usual (she was sprinting around the kitchen and jumping on the furniture). She's just a little monster, I swear, but her cuddles and kisses definitely make up for it.

It used to be almost impossible to do an outfit post without Macey, she seriously wouldn't allow it, but lately I can barely get her to come near me when there's a camera around. But I always manage to sneak a few in when we distract Lily... and it always ends with us looking over and thinking "what is she doing?!"
Never a dull moment with those two around, I beyond excited to go home and see them next weekend.

Life in Square Photos 6/52

It's been another crazy week and it just seemed to fly by as per usual! Since I have off school today, I'm going to try to bang out a couple of scheduled posts so I don't go M.I.A. again.
I spent my SuperBowl Sunday eating buffalo chicken dip and re-thinking the way I lesson plan.
I completely changed things up and made my sample first and came up with my own layout to make the KU lesson format less daunting and make more sense for me.
For Practicum (our weekly class on campus for student teaching) we had the task of taking an ordinary marker and turning it into something remarkable related to our teaching experience and it must still be usable.  Once I chose a green marker, I immediately knew I wanted to turn it into a tree because this is a period of growth built off our entire education. I used clay that doesn't dry so the tree would be moldable, like this experience, and anyone that touches or uses it will leave an imprint. I had originally felted cotton balls that I then dyed with watered-down paint to represent the experiences I've already had... and then I somehow lost it on my way to class so my new plan is to have each of my students choose a color of yarn and I will turn them into the "leaves" since the students are the most important part of my student teaching experience.
I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had to put our personal self/ an inspiring quote on the interior of our name tags. Part of my teaching philosophy is that it is okay to make mistakes and we can use these are learning opportunities.
I actually open it up and have my students read this whenever they say they "messed up" and want to throw it away and start over.
I also referred to the inside of my name tag when students wanted to know why there was random hole that didn't go the whole way down in between. My co-op and I made these sharpie holders to make sure we get them all back at the end of the period. When I was drilling the holes in the one on the right, my paper guide got pulled off by the drill press and I, somehow, drilled a hole in between the two when I was trying to turn the machine off.
I stopped by my home on the way back to school and later found this (and a few other selfies)  on my phone. Bailey always wants to be in my LiSP posts, so here's to you, mini-me!
I also wish I was spending this snow day with these snow-loving pups.

Have a Great Week! xo

InstaStyle // Snow Day

In honor of yesterday's snow day and today's two hour delay, here are some pictures Kyle took during the last batch of snow. As much as I enjoy sleeping in, I think I'm over the snow now. I'm definitely experiencing wanderlust for a warmer climate.
It was far too bright for my sensitive little eyes which resulted in me attempting to run (and slipping) through the snow onto the shoveled sidewalk.

Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

First of all, how is it already February? 2015 seems to already be flying by.

I have been having way too much fun planning Valentine's day this year and can not wait to share about it with all of you. Kyle and I have back to back celebrations from December to March and it just makes more sense that we keep Valentine's day simple with spending the weekend together eating General Tso and white rice, binge watching another TV series, and snacking on the candies we gifted each other.

Valentine's gifts can still be fun to give to family or your girl friends...or yourself... I won't judge. I'm sure I'll give in and buy one or two for myself.

Here's a few things I'd like to give or receive under $50:

What's your favorite?

If I'm being honest, it's too hard for me to pick just one but I think I think I have a three-way tie between the Ily Couture Sweatshirt, Ban.do travel mug, and the Nila Anythony soft serve purse.

Happy Sunday! Have a Great Week! xo
