A New Medium pt 2

Hey everyone! Today I'm sharing the second installment (see the first here) of paintings for the semester.

I don't think I mentioned it in the previous post, but all of the paintings so far have been painted on 22"x20" printmaking paper. For this group of paintings we added ultramarine blue and raw umber to our color palette. I typically work in black and white because it's the easiest to show a range of values which made this group a bit more challenging for me. Overall I'm content with how they turned out and I'm definitely noticing my paintings are much stronger when I do a preliminary sketch (middle and right). For our next set of paintings we are using a full color scale and creating 13(!!!) smaller size (phew) landscape paintings on masonite. We will be outside for the entire month of October so you can look forward to seeing all of those at the end of October (and possibly some "sneak previews" on Instagram in the mean time).
