Bonnawear Part 1

Hi all! I finally got a chance to shoot what I wore at Bonnaroo so I'll have a short outfit post up every day this week! This is the only outfit I actually took pictures in while at Bonnaroo (you can see them here) but my sister and I reshot it for some close-ups. I really love back details on shirts and when I found this open-back top I was sold. It was also really great because the open-knit allowed for a nice breeze.
Side-note: I wore the same shoes all weekend because it was muddy the first two days and dusty the last two so it seemed to make sense to only have to clean one pair at the end.

Easy Breezy

As I mentioned in the last post, I'm currently at the beach but my sister and I shot this outfit a few weeks ago and I've been excited to share.

I still plan on doing a short post of what I wore at Bonnaroo when I get home, but I didn't pack for the beach until the night before oops. Macey insisted on making an appearance because she is the star after all.

I usually live in jeans and leggings for work because they're easy to throw on with a top in the morning so I decided to switch things up and start wearing skirts and dresses instead. Here's the first outfit I styled featuring a skirt my boyfriend's mom gave me that makes me want to twirl. I decided on the super cozy khaki green button-down because-although you can't see them-the leaves in the pattern are the same color and I loved the subtle connection. I found these Sperry slip-ons at Macy's during the Family and Friends sale and I'm so glad I did. You can't see in the pictures, but they have a subtle eyelet on them that keeps them girly and I love them for dressing down and being comfy.

Take Me Back to Bonnaroo

I still can't believe how quickly Bonnaroo came and that it's already over. Janice and I were extremely lucky for it being our first year and had a close camp and the weather, while still hot, was bearable. While I was ready to come home by the end of it, I would absolutely love to go back. It was an incredible experience with great friends and memories. I planned on doing outfit posts while at roo but I didn't feel great about posing sweat-drenched and greasy-haired among 90,000 people to maybe get a good shot. I will try to do a short post highlighting what I wore (which is now washed and sweat free!) if I have time to shoot them tonight-we're leaving for the beach tomorrow for a week- otherwise it should be up the following week.

Below you can see some of the pictures from my trip that show the tiniest portion of the experience.
This Roobird made camp on Sam's car the first night.
How great is the ceiling of the Ford Garage?
I have to admit, aside from the endless rants, Kanye was great live.
Disclosure was so great, the face even synched perfectly to some of the songs.
Damon Albarn, lead vocalist and principal songwriter for the Gorillaz, performed some of his independent work along with songs by Blur and Gorillaz. It's been a dream of mine to hear the Gorillaz live. I was ecstatic when he brought out De La Soul to perform Feel Good and Del the Funky Homosapien to perform Clint Eastwood. It was incredible and I loved every second of it but I still have my fingers crossed to see a full Gorillaz show.
Janice experienced her very first funnel cake and she loved it.
This far from Frank Ocean, seriously amazing. I have to see him again.
Lemme tell ya'll about this little piece of heaven. This was a savory Bacon Ranch Mac & Cheese puff from Puffs of Doom. They specialize in sweet and savory cream puffs and if you're ever in Chicago (or at Bonnaroo next year) you have you try them! I'm seriously salivating just thinking about them.
How cute is Tierney cooling down in the fountain?
Taking some sneaky pics with Janice since she deleted the others.
Paper lanterns at Elton John featuring Sam.

You can now subscribe with your email for new post updates on the righthand side.
Outfit posts will resume after this post but thanks for following my first roo!

Charp Loves Gatlinburg

I can't believe how last week flew by. It was a LONG drive and I'm glad we broke it up on the way down and back. I remembered Gatlinburg pretty vividly from the last time I was there- in middle school-and I thought it would be a fun place to stop on the way. It rained within 20 minutes of our arrival but we saw a Ben& Jerrys on the way in so we just had to walk down before the season premier of Pretty Little Liars (yeah, we drove 8 hours to sit in the hotel and watch PLL). The next day we had great weather and checked out Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, walked around town, had our first Dick's Last Resort experience and Ripley's Believe It or Not Odditorium. It was a great stop on our 11 hour roadtrip filled with lots of laughs and wishing we lived in the south- southern hospitality is a real thing and we loved every second of it.
I have to reccommend Gin-Gins even if you don't like ginger.
We ate a whole box in a day, seriously, they're that good.
Not too shabby of a view from our room.
Can you tell I was overly excited about touching a jellyfish?
Tucked back in a corner we almost missed was a Tervis store! So of course I had to get a Gatlinburg one (and two others since they were having a father's day special).
The hostess couldn't belive we were old enough to drink- she thought I was maybe 10 or 12 and Janice was 15- so we ordered strawberry daiquiris, because we can. If you haven't expierenced Dick's yet, you have to go. It's great and I swear we didn't stop smiling/ laughing the whole time we were in there.
A motorcycle made from animal bones (that died of natural causes) that was appropriately named after my favorite song- Bad to the Bone.
Gives me ideas for how to organize the bottle caps for my table!

Thanks for stopping by, come back tomorrow for my Bonnaroo Photo Diary!

A Piece of Home

I can't believe it, but after a year of discussing and planning, it's finally Bonnaroo week! My best friend and I are heading to Tennessee tomorrow morning to stop and explore Gatlinburg before going down to Manchester for the festival. We shot this outfit a few weeks ago and I thought it would be approriate for beginning the documentation of our roadtrip from PA to TN. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures of our trip to share when I get home!

A little about the outfit- these were my the first pair of crazy patterned pants that I mentioned back in this post. They're also my most worn patterned pants because the black and white pattern makes them versatile. With that being said, it took me a while to decide how I wanted to style them for a post. I usually just throw on a plain colored top and a blazer or sweater if it's chilly/ to dress them up. I've also been really into wearing oversized button-downs with the sleeves rolled up lately. I thrifted this top two years ago to refashion wear as a jacket but I ended up just ripping off a pocket and loving it. I threw these two on one day just out of curiosity and finally decided this was how I would style them for a post (not that you'll never see me in them again).
